Windows Checkpoint Restore

Thank GOD for inserting the paper bullet into the brain of the Microsoft engineer who came up with System Restore Points. After stupidly installing MS Office 2010 Beta out of curiosity, I found it totally messed up my ability to sync with my Palm TX, and was virtually impossible to uninstall. No problem, just roll back the clock to last week, and I'm good to go. Except for losing some email and having to erase dozens of duplicate entries in Outlook.

2010 looked like it had some nice features but untill somebody comes up with updates for HotSync and Documents to Go, I am stuck with Office 97 and Outlook 2003. Or until I get a smart phone, which will probably be sooner than I can afford.

Hello again Blogosphere

Attempt 2.0 at an online presence for me, this time as a late adopter and without grandiose pretensions of wide readability or significance. Mostly a place to post things of interest and convenience for my own access wherever I happen to be. Named for a beautifully written book I happen to like. Hopefully this one won't grow to the point where it becomes self-aware and demands a sandwich.
